Pumanaw na ang tinaguriang ‘Queen of Rock n’ Roll’ na si Tina Turner sa edad na 83 anyos nitong Miyerkules, Mayo 24.
Ayon sa mga ulat, hindi na nagising sa kaniyang pagkakatulog ang music icon sa kaniyang bahay sa Kusnacht malapit sa Zurich, Switzerland. Siya ay tuluyang namaalam matapos ang ilang taong pakikibaka sa isang mabigat na karamdaman.
Nagsimula ang karera ni Tina Turner sa mundo ng musika noong 1957 bilang si Little Ann na kasapi ng grupong ‘Kings of Rhythm’ ni Ike Turner.
Tuluyan siyang namayagpag bilang solo artist noong dekada 80 at kabilang sa kaniyang mga pinasikat na kanta ay ang “What’s Love Got to Do with It” na nanalong ‘Record of the Year’ sa 1984 Grammy Awards at nakapasok pa sa Billboard Hot 100.
Ilan pa sa mga awiting pinasikat niya ay ang ‘Private Dancer’, ‘The Best’, at ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)’ na naging soundtrack sa pelikulang ‘Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome’ kung saan gumanap din siya bilang kontrabidang si ‘Aunt Entity’ at nakasama si Mel Gibson.
Bumuhos naman ang tribute kay Tina mula sa mga kapwa-singers, mga nakasama sa industriya at ilang kilalang personalidad.
