Bulacan provincial gov’t mourns passing of 5 hero rescuers

The Provincial Government of Bulacan paid tribute to the five Bulacan rescuers whose lives were lost while trying to save people during the onslaught of supertyphoon Karding in San Miguel, Bulacan.

They identified the fallen heroes as George E. Agustin from Iba O’ Este, Calumpit; Troy Justin P. Agustin from Sta. Rita, Guiguinto; Marby A. Bartolome from Bulihan, City of Malolos; Jerson L. Resurreccion from Catmon, Santa Maria; and Narciso Calayag, as they switched their Facebook page’s profile photo to black.

“Isang madilim na kabanata sa Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan. Ilan sa ating mga kawani ang nagbuwis ng buhay sa pagnanais na magligtas ng buhay ng kanilang mga kalalawigan,” the caption reads.

“Sama-sama po tayong mag-alay ng panalangin para sa kanila at sa mga pamilyang kanilang naulila. Sila ay tunay na bayani ng ating lalawigan.”

Meanwhile, Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando said he is in deep grief over this unfortunate incident.

“Kulang ang mga salita upang ipahayag ang aking kalungkutan sa naganap na trahedya sa ating mga kasamang rescuers ng Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. Sa ngalan ng lalawigan ng Bulacan, ako ay taus-pusong nagpapasalamat at ikinararangal ang kanilang ipinamalas na kabayanihan at matapat na pagtupad sa kanilang tungkulin, sukdulang isakripisyo ang kanilang sariling buhay,” Fernando said.

Meanwhile, netizens also extended their condolences to the families that the rescuers left behind.

“My deepest condolences to the family of these rescuers who sacrificed their lives to save others. Your families did not just lose a father, a son or a brother but a HERO. May you be consoled with the fact that they have left a legacy of bravery & compassion,” a netizen commented.

“Taos puso pong pasasalamat sa limang magigiting na bayaning tagapagligtas ng Bulacan at Condolence po sa mga pamilya ng bawat bayaning ito mula sa aming pamilya,” another said.
